Gerard Burkhart is a photographer who has worked for major U.S. and international publications including the New York Times and had photos published in three Pulitzer Prize winning editions of the Los Angeles Times.
As a photo educator he has been leading student success since 2004. His photojournalism students consistently win local, state and national awards from assignments produced in class, including the College Photographer of the Year 2018, 2016, 2013, 2009 and 2004; coaching six community college students into acceptance at the prestigious Eddie Adams Workshop; leading five community college Master Classes in a Getty Museum backed educational partnership; and placing photographers in the industry respected Sports Shooter Academy in 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018.
He restarted the Valley College photojournalism classes in fall 2020.
