The Valley College softball team lost a double header to Santa Barbara Community College on Tuesday by the combined score of 24-10.
The two losses dropped the Monarchs to 4-14 in preseason play. The Monarchs pitching staff allowed 17 hits in the first game and 12 hits in the second, for a total of 29 hits across two games.
“I feel like we could’ve stuck out through the whole game and actually win,” said utility player Priscilla Lopez. “But it’s just a lot of mental errors.”
In game two, the Monarchs led the Vaqueros 5-3 in the bottom of the fourth. However, Santa Barbara outscored the home team 7-1 in the final three innings. The final score of the second was 10-6.
“We tried our best,” said outfielder Tarryn Macias.
The Monarchs will travel to Santa Monica College on Thursday to face the Corsairs at 2 p.m. at John Adams Middle School Field.
