Monserrat Solis is a sophomore at Valley College and plans to transfer to a 4-year University by Fall 2019. Currently, majoring in Communication. Her goal is to transfer to a University with a strong journalism program like USC or CSUN. This is her first year as Co-Editor-in-Chief and layout editor for The Valley Star. Starting Journalism 101 last fall, she found writing and reporting interesting and enjoyed it. Continuing in journalism classes, becoming a staff writer and editor has given her experience to write, design, and publish a newspaper. She also attended the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY and received an Associates degree in Baking and Pastry in 2017. Because of her background in the food industry, she hopes to become a food writer.
