BRIEF: Parking still free for Monarchs

Monarch parking is still free for another semester, as the revamped website falls behind with updates.

Valley College allowed free parking on all student lots when the COVID-19 pandemic hit. Parking permits were $20 per semester and electric vehicles were $5 prior to the 2020 spring semester. Purchasing the parking permits for electric vehicles requires a trip to the business office to activate the charging station. At the start of the 2023 spring semester, the new website states that parking permits are required by faculty and students. Drivers are left clueless if they are going to be fined $7 for parking.

“Only electric cars have to pay $5 for the rest of the semester,“ said Lana Simonyan, a Business Office Employee. “Students who do not drive electric vehicles are able to park for free on all of the lots.”
