Valley College will visit Pierce Saturday as the two teams square off for the 60th annual rivalry game with the victory bell on the line.

Both teams come into the game with an 0-2 record. Valley dropped its first game of the season 27-10. Last week, Valley was blown out by San Bernardino Valley 33-0 in its first home game of the season.

Valley has been outscored 60-10 in the last two games, Pierce, in its games, has been outscored 111-34.

The bell games began in 1965, when the Monarchs took home the silver bell in the first game. Since then, the bell has traded hands frequently, with Pierce holding it for a 14-game stretch in the ‘70s and ‘80s and Valley hanging onto it for the last nine years.

The Victory Bell is a big part of Valley's culture. The connections Valley’s students have with Pierce make the rivalry even more intense. The game represents a celebration of school pride between the Monarchs and the Brahmas, with the possibility of the Monarchs holding onto the bell for a decade.

Kickoff begins at 1:00 pm at Pierce's John Shephard stadium.
